Reflection 04/03/2022

Today was really fun working with the toning process, I think it surprised a lot of the staff as well. Ive learned that smaller images aren't very conducive to the toning processs as I think its the bleach destroying a lot of fine detail; however my larger images came out perfect and I love the old and vintage look to them; this has given me hope that my project will work out exactly as I intended.

Manged to submit everything for my proposal to moodle today as well so that's a big relief; also helped Isla do her project and she conducted an interview on me which was cool and I got a free pastry and cookie out of it :).

I think tomorrow I'm going to make a few batches of paper and see how it comes out; also going to start writing my own haikus and taking my photos linked to them I have to remember that low-key images won't show up as well in the green tea toning process so maybe ill reserve the coffee toner for those ones idk. Ill have to do some further experimentations as I forgot to leave the more faded image for the coffee toner as well.

I should also try conduct my primary research soon or at leas t try to plan how I'm actually going to go about this as I didn't realise that getting haikus from young children that ARENT my own family without coming across as a wierdo is gonna be a lot fucking harder than I though. Might contact one of my mums old friends who I think is a primary school teacher; and I might give my old art and English teachers an email to see if they would be able to help me collate a few haikus and line drawings for my project. As for the older people I think going through my parents and grandparents would be the best. Their friends should be able to help me out; I really also want to have a haiku written by a Japanese person as well; hopefully in Japanese, as I would really love that perspective I think I'm gonna ask my friend YUKI in the drawing and conceptual course.

Overall it has been a very productive week and I think I'm going on the right course with my project so far!
